Hey crew,

I have a couple shows this week, including a last-minute one in Arvada tomorrow (Saturday) 10/18. Details below.

Since I last emailed you, I wrote a post for my other newsletter about what art means to me (and I can’t decide if that sounds pretentious or like something a fourth grader would write).

I also had the chance to host a comedy show at Flipside Theater in Superior last night, which was even more fun than I thought it would be. Backstage right before the show, I got all 12 comics who were performing to huddle up. I gave them a brief pep talk, and told them on the count of three, we were all going to say “WOO!!”

As I counted to three, part of me (a big part) was thinking I was going to be the only idiot yelling “WOO!”

But, dear reader, every last comic yelled “WOO” in unison. I don’t know if it’s because as a mom, I feel like no one in my house listens to me, or because I work from home as a solopreneur (read: I’m an extrovert trapped in an introvert’s professional life), but it felt really freaking good to yell “WOO” with a bunch of strangers. Maybe it was a coincidence but every comic crushed.

And after the show, one of the comics made a point to thank me for that little ritual. He said he’d never had a host do that before, but he liked it.

All of this to say, go ahead and be your full, weird self and see how the energy around you shifts. It’s magic.

Open Mic (ongoing)

Speaking of having fun, it’s been a lot of fun hosting an open mic at Casseopeia, a Boulder coffee shop and velo spa, where we do comedy every 1st and 3rd Wednesday. Admission is free and vibes are friendly.

The next one is this Wednesday 11/5 and I’d love to see you there!
